Jayant Kumar of the Chhatra Rashtriya Janta Dal, which made its debut at the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union polls, saw a moral victory in his loss.
Kumar, who stood for the presidents post, got 540 votes and stood fourth among the presidential candidates. He polled more votes than the NSUI candidate but was behind the United Left front, ABVP and BAPSA candidates.
"The NSUI is an old organisation and even the other parties have been around for years. The United Left front was formed with the coming together of four parties and I fought the elections alone. These elections are a warning sign to political parties that indulge in votebank politics," he said.
Kumar is a first year PhD student of School Of Social Sciences. He passed out from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in 2014.
"Our performance is a moral victory. Everyone is saying I have put up a graceful fight. We intend to fight on all the central panel posts and the councillor posts next year.
"There are also plans to fight the Delhi University polls next year and to set up the party in Jamia," he said.
