The new office-bearers were elected at the 124th annual general meeting of UPASI held at Coonoor in Nilgiris district.
The new UPASI president is an agriculture graduate and runs a family business of cultivation and manufacturing of tea with an experience of 38 years.
He has occupied various positions including chairman of the Nilgiri Planters' Association and Planters' Association of Tamil Nadu.
A E Joseph was elected vice-president for the term at the meeting, a press release from UPASI said.
A mechanical engineering graduate, Joseph is managing partner of Alampally Estate, Pasuppara, Idukki district, Kerala.
UPASI is an apex body of planters of tea, coffee, rubber, pepper and cardamom in the Southern States - Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka in existence since 1893.
