Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's visit to the house of Sadhu Yadav, controversial brother-in-law of RJD President Lalu Prasad, during Makar Sankranti festivities has raked up a controversy with the ruling JD(U) saying that Manjhi should shun such activities which gives a bad name to the party and the government.

Manjhi had visited the residence of Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav in Danapur during Makar Sankranti feast yesterday.

"Manjhi ji says he is taking forward the 'sushasan' (good governance) programme of Nitish Kumar...Does sushasan allow the Chief Minister visiting a man having criminal background"? JD(U) spokesman Neeraj Kumar asked.

"It is my suggestion to the Chief Minister that he should stick to implementing sushasan programme started by Nitish Kumar in Bihar and shun such activities which gives a bad name to the party and the government," Neeraj Kumar told PTI today.

Meanwhile, Sadhu Yadav criticised JD(U) for their negative views about Manjhi's "personal" visit to his home and threatened to file a defamation suit against the JD(U) spokesman.

"Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad should first clarify what kind of sushasan is prevailing in Bihar with the help of people like Anant Singh, Mohammad Shabuddin, Pappu Yadav, Prabhunath Singh and Sunil Pandey who are facing a large number of criminal cases?" he said.

"There is no criminal case against me so on what basis is the JD(U) spokesman speaking against me," he told PTI.

RJD described the event a private one and said no political meaning should be derived from it.

"Is there any ban on somebody going to somebody's house" ? RJD Legislature Party leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui told PTI.

No political meaning should be derived from a personal visit of the Chief Minister or anyone else during a festival, he said.

RJD state spokesman Mundrika Singh Yadav echoed similar views saying "what is objectionable in this"?

Manjhi left for Shirdi in Maharashtra last evening.
