JD(U) MLC's son shoots youngster dead in road rage incident

A 20-year-old youth was shot dead allegedly by the son of a woman JD(U) legislator in a road rage incident here, triggering protests by opposition BJP.
Aditya Kumar Sachdeva was shot dead allegedly by Rocky Kumar Yadav, son of JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi, following a scuffle over the youngster and his friends overtaking their Range Rover SUV near the police lines here around 8 last evening.
Rocky is absconding while his history sheeter father Bindeshwari Prasad Yadav alias Bindi Yadav, known in the area for his muscle and money power, and the legislator's bodyguard have been arrested for allegedly helping the culprit escape, police said.
Eyewitnesses said Rocky and his men intercepted the Swift car in which Sachdeva and his friends were travelling after the youngsters had overtaken their Range Rover. There was a fight between the two groups and, when Sachdeva, son of businessman, and his friends were leaving, Rocky allegedly fired a shot at the vehicle from behind. The bullet pierced through the rear windshield glass, killing Sachdeva.
DIG (Magadh Range) Saurabh Kumar said Sachdeva was rushed to the Anugrah Narayan Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Bindi Yadav, who had in the past been jailed in a sedition case and from whom police had seized 6000 rounds of ammunition of a weapon banned for public use in 2011, and Rajesh Kumar, the bodyguard of Manorama Devi, were arrested today.
Bindi Yadav claimed his son's innocence and said he was beaten up by the youngsters, who were drunk. He, however, said his son had a licenced weapon which might have gone off during the scuffle leading to Sachdeva's death. "After all, everybody has the right to self defence," he said.

The incident acquired political overtones with Leader of Opposition in the Bihar assembly Prem Kumar, who is the local MLA, saying the incident was a testimony to the "return of jungle raj" in the state.
"Bihar is burning, an atmosphere of fear pervades the state. This incident bears testimony to the return of jungle raj in the state," he said after meeting the victim's family. He also addressed a large number of protesters who had blocked the road near Mahabir bridge against the incident.
The protesters, led by Gaya district BJP president Anil Swami, raised slogans against the district police and demanded immediate arrest of the prime accused in the case.
Meanwhile, K C Tyagi, a Rajya Sabha member of JD(U) from Bihar and the party's chief general secretary, said law will take its own course and those guilty will be punished.
"In the past too leaders of JD(U), RJD and other parties have been arrested (under Nitish Kumar's rule)....Law is equal for everybody and it will take its course," he said.
