The election for the post of National President of Janata Dal (United) will take place next month after a delay of over one and half years.
Announcing the dates for nomination and polls, party Secretary General K C Tyagi told reporters that election, if necessary, will take place on April 14.
"The last date for filing of the nomination for the post of National President is April 9. Last date for withdrawal of nomination is April 13", he said.
The previous poll for the post of party President was held in August 2009 when incumbent Sharad Yadav occupied the post.
Yadav's two-year term had ended in 2011 but the polls were postponed as assembly elections in some states were taking place at that time.
Next month, the party will also conduct elections also for its national executive.

"No such thing is under discussion right now. These are open-ended question and it is better to ask him about this", he said.
