JD(U) state committee meet rejects resignation of leaders
Press Trust of India Kozhikode The Janata Dal (United) unit in Kerala today rejected the resignations of two key leaders who offered to step down taking responsibility for the party's poor show in the state Assembly elections last month.
The committee which met here to discuss the political situation after theassembly elections, turned down the resignations of state Secretary General Varghese George and state General Secretary Sheikh P Harris.
Talking to reporters ahead of the meeting, state party president M P Veerendra Kumar, a Rajya Sabha MP, said "The leadership is responsible in the event of any victory ordefeat. The meeting will discuss the resignation of the leaders".
Varghese George, who also spoke to reporters, said "It is a collective responsibility of the entire leadership. So I had offered to resign my post during the June 1 meeting of the party here. I stick to my earlier position even now".
