The 52-year-old actor was happy to learn that Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor in the Marvel series, wanted him to land a role in the forthcoming comic book caper.
Van Damme said that he has always been a fan of the franchise and its former president and chairman Stan Lee.
"It was my pleasure to meet Mr Stan Lee back in 1994, along with Mr Samuel & Mr Victor Hadida," he wrote on Facebook.
"I read that Chris Hemsworth (Thor) would like me to co-star in 'The Avengers 2' movie! Well, it would be fun to play one of these types of amazing comic book characters again," he added.
"By the way, I am a big fan of Marvel's superhero Silver Surfer and also another heroic fictional character known as Doc Savage - the Man of Bronze," he said.
