Jeera prices dropped by 1.18 per cent to Rs 19,625 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions, tracking a weak trend at spot market on sluggish demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in July drifted lower by Rs 235, or 1.18 per cent, to Rs 19,625 per quintal with an open interest of 528 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in August declined by Rs 125, or 0.63 per cent, to Rs 19,660 per quintal in 13,758 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by participants on the back of muted demand in the spot market, mainly led to the decline in jeera prices at futures trade.
