Jeera prices fell by 1.22 per cent to Rs 17,010 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels on lower domestic and exports demand at the spot market amid ample stocks position.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April fell by Rs 210, or 1.22 per cent, to Rs 17,010 per quintal, with an open interest of 7,563 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in current month moved down by Rs 135, or 0.79 per cent, to Rs 17,020 per quintal in 1,029 lots.
Analysts said, besides profit-booking by speculators at existing levels, fall in demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position, kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
