Furthermore, ample stocks position following higher supplies from the producing belts and reports of good sowing in Gujarat due to favourable weather condition weighed on jeera prices, traders said.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in January fell by Rs 250, or 1.45 per cent, to Rs 16,970 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,870 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in March 2017 moved down by Rs 230, or 1.42 per cent, to Rs 16,000 per quintal in 4,248 lots.
