Jeera prices fell further by Rs 195 to close at Rs 15,470 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators engaged in trimming positions to book profits at prevailing levels amid lower domestic and exports demand.
Furthermore, ample stock positions following higher supplies from the producing regions, fuelled the downtrend.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April fell Rs 195, or 1.24 per cent, to close at Rs 15,470 per quintal with an open interest of 3,078 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in March moved down by Rs 185, or 1.20 per cent, to end at Rs 15,275 per quintal in 9,429 lots.
Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at existing levels, fall in demand at the spot market against adequate stock positions, kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
