Jeera prices fell by 1.17 per cent to Rs 16,950 per quintal in futures trading today as participants trimmed their positions, driven by muted exports demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in far-month June fell by Rs 200, or 1.17 per cent to Rs 16,950 per quintal with an open interest of 7,158 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in May contracts traded lower by Rs 150, or 0.89 per cent, to Rs 16,785 per quintal in 15,276 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by traders amid weak exports demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position kept pressure on jeera prices at futures trade.
