At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in October month moved up by Rs 150, or 0.87 per cent to Rs 17,380 per quintal with an open interest of 13,110 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in far-month November contracts traded higher by Rs 135, or 0.77 per cent to Rs 17,520 per quintal in 5,112 lots.
Analysts said widening of position by participants backed up by a pick-up in domestic as well as exports demand, mainly led to rise in jeera prices at futures trade.
