Continued its rising streak for the second straight day, jeera prices went up by another 1.84 per cent to Rs 14,355 per quintal in futures trade today as participants widened their bets, triggered by rising demand at the spot market.
Besides, tight stocks on restricted supplies from producing regions and some export enquiries supported the upside.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in January 2016 advanced by Rs 260, or 1.84 per cent to Rs 14,355 per quintal with an open interest of 7,491 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in March contracts moved up by Rs 230, or 1.63 per cent to Rs 14,355 per quintal in 3,576 lots.
Analysts said besides rising demand at the spot market, restricted supplies from growing regions mainly kept jeera prices higher in futures trade.
