At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June contracts rose by Rs 110, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 16,710 per quintal with an open interest of 19,269 lots.
On similar lines, the spice for delivery in May contracts edged higher by Rs 95, or 0.58 per cent, to Rs 16,515 per quintal in 2,481 lots.
Analysts said increasing of positions by traders on the back of pick up in demand in the spot market amid restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to the rise in jeera prices at futures trade.
