Amid rising domestic demand, jeera prices went up by 3.97 per cent to Rs 15,845 per quintal in futures trade today as traders widened positions, taking positive cues from spot market on rising demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in August spurted by Rs 605, or 3.97 per cent to Rs 15,845 per quintal with an open interest of 318 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in September rose by Rs 610, or 3.97 per cent to Rs 15,960 per quintal in 17,598 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise in jeera futures prices to strong demand in the spot market amid fall in arrivals from producing belts.
