At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in March plunged by Rs 505, or 3.36 per cent to Rs 14,530 per quintal with an open interest of 396 lots.
In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in April contracts traded lower by Rs 495, or 3.25 per cent to Rs 14,740 per quintal in 17,724 lots.
Analysts attributed sharp fall in jeera futures to low demand in the spot market against higher supplies from producing belts.
