Jerra prices improved by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale kirana market in the national capital today following frantic buying by stockists and retailers amid restricted supplies.
In contrast, tamarind prices dropped by Rs 50 per quintal on sluggish demand amid fresh supplies.
According to the market players, fall in arrivals amidst gearing up in demand from stockist reflected upward movements in jeera prices.
On the other hand, tamarind prices met with resistance on slackness in demand amid mounting of stocks, they quoted.
In price section, jeera new common and jeera new best varieties hardened by Rs 100 each to end the day at Rs 16,500-16,700 and Rs 18,700-19,200 per quintal, respectively.
On the contrary, the price of tamarind and tamarind without seed dropped by Rs 50 each to Rs 4,750-5,050 and Rs 8,450-9,450 per quintal, respectively.
