Jet engines, components and integrated systems provider GE Aviation today said domestic private carrier Jet Airways has extended its agreement with the company by another five years for OnPointSM solution.

GE Aviation's OnPoint solutions are customised service agreements, tailored to the operational and financial needs of an airline for any size fleet.

The extension, valued at more than $200 million, ensures GE will provide the maintenance, repair and overhaul of 22 GE90 engines that power the Jet Airways Boeing 777 300ER aircraft, till 2022, a release said here.

Besides, the Mumbai headquartered airline has also signed an agreement with the company for a thrust bump on its entire GE90 fleet of 22 engines, GE Aviation said in the release.

This provides Jet Airways with the flexibility to operate high payloads even when flying out of short runways under severely hot operating conditions experienced in the summer months in many parts of Asia and Middle East, it said.

"With this OnPointSM solution agreement extension, GE will continue to provide Jet Airways with high-quality maintenance and overhaul capabilities as well as the OEM parts to meet all of its services' needs," GE Aviation's Services organisation president Kevin McAllister said.

These agreements are designed to help lower the customers' cost of ownership and maximise the use of their assets, the release said.

Backed by GE's global support network, OnPoint services may include overhaul, on wing support, new and used- serviceable parts, component repair, technology upgrades, engine leasing, integrated systems support and diagnostics and integrated systems.

"Extending our existing OnPoint solution agreement with GE to our entire GE90 fleet will allow our engines to have access to OEM-quality work scopes, repairs and material that will keep them in top operating condition," Jet Airways senior vice president for commercial Guarang Shetty said.
