Two men, both in their 50s, were found unresponsive on the shores of the Fraser river after a fatal jet-ski accident on Thursday night.
They had now been identified as prominent realtor-builder Salinder Burmy and his friend Ramanjit "Bunty" Bachra, The Link newspaper reported.
The duo was wearing life jackets but sustained "severe head trauma" in the accident and a jet ski was found adrift near their bodies in the Fraser River, police said.
Police suspect that speed and lighting could have been factors that led to the incident.
Burmy also supported social causes, including education, human rights and poverty alleviation.
