Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) became the runners-up in the 24th Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot recently held in Vienna, Austria.
A statement issued by O P Jindal Global University (JGU) said a team of students -- Sayantan Chanda, Amartya Ashish Sharan, Vasudhaa Ahuja, Anubhav Khamroi, Ananyaa Mazumdar and Harsha Pisupati -- represented the law school in the world's pre-eminent arbitration moot competition.
While congratulating the team on its success, Professor C Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of JGU, said, "It has demonstrated the outstanding abilities of Indian law students to compete internationally and excel in these mooting and advocacy programmes."
The statement said that this year the international competition witnessed participation of over 330 teams from across the globe, thereby making it the single largest moot event in the world.
The Willem C Vis Moot, held annually in Vienna, brings together the global arbitration community around issues concerning the laws of international arbitration and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).
The competition has been held annually since 1994 and is named after Willem Cornelis Vis, a world-recognised expert in international commercial transactions and dispute settlement procedures.
