"In view of the sentiments expressed by the people after the cabinet's decision to revise VAT on diesel will be taken back," an official release quoting Chief Minister Raghubar Das said here.
The government said there would not be any increase in the diesel rate and its current rate will continue.
Das, however, said rates on petrol in some neighbouring states were more than that of the rates in Jharkhand and after a study of their rates a suitable decision would be taken.
As per that revision, diesel would have been increased by Rs 4.21. Petrol will be costlier by Rs 4.54.
