Jharkhand announces Rs 410 crore to help farmers

While Rs 150 crore would be spent towards diesel subsidy, Rs 240 crore as interest-free loans and Rs 20 crore for purchase of seeds for the farmers, an official release said here today.

The decision was taken at a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arjun Munda yesterday on steps in dealing with the situation.

The government has also decided to urge the Centre to extend the deadline of Crop Insurance till August 30, the release said, adding directions were issued to get a survey done on drought situation by August 15, so that a report could be sent to the union government.
