Jharkhand assembly pays tributes to leaders killed by Maoists

Jharkhand Assembly today paid tributes to the Congress leaders who had been killed in Chhatisgarh by Maoists and condemned the rebels for the bloodshed perpetrated on May 26 at Jagadalpur in neighbouring Chhatisgarh.
Taking up the obituary references, the newly elected Speaker S S Bhokta condemned the fatal attack by the rebels on former Union minister V C Shukla, Chhatisgarh Congress leaders Mahendra Karma, Uday Mudliar and several other people, whom the Maoists killed brutally.
The House also recalled the services of former Union minister and Governor Khurshid Alam Khan, former Jharkhand minister Madhu Singh, Uttarakhand's first chief minister Nityanand Swami, West Bengal's former Governor Biren J Shah and Bihar Vidhan Parishad's member Vasudev Singh, who passed away recently.
Recalling the contribution to the music world by Pandit Ravi Shankar, who died on December 12, 2012, the Speaker paid tributes to Bollywood actors Pran, Rituparna Ghosh and singer Shamsad Begum.
The House condoled deaths of civilians and policemen in Maoist violence in Jharkhand, including Pakur SP Amarjit Balihar, who was killed by the rebels on July 2.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren, leader of the opposition Arjun Munda and several other members of the assembly paid tributes to the departed souls.
Later, the House was adjourned for the day.
