Jharkhand awarded for governance

Jharkhand bagged the Skoch Group award as an emerging state for improved governance through leveraging communication and information technologies.
Jharkhand's Additional Chief Secretary A K Pandey and Principal Secretary with the Information Technology N N Sinha took the award on behalf of the state.
Yesterday, UIAD Chairman Nandan Nilekani gave away the award to Jharkhand for improved governance through leveraging communication and information technologies for modernising police systems, tracking Naxal movement on a real time basis, city surveillance, registration of property in less than an hour and delivery of citizen services through web based single window platform, an official release said today.
Jharkhand Police were also given awards independently in the categories of Naxal Information Systems, Crime and Criminal Information Systems, Use of Information and Communication Technology in Policing and Web Portal of Jharkhand Police, making the state police in receipt of maximum number of awards given to a single entity.
Additional DGP S N Pradhan, IG Anurag Gupta, Scientist Debrata Nayak and another official Gunjan Kumar received the awards on behalf of the state police department, the release said.
