Jharkhand CM lays foundation of 26 drinking water projects

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today laid foundation of 26 drinking water projects with an estimated cost of Rs 1050 crore for four mining districts - Dhanbad, Ramgarh, West Singhbhum and Bokaro.
Addressing a public meeting the chief minister said today is an historic day for Jharkhand as the government is providing a huge amount for drinking water projects of four mining districts of the state.
Das praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for setting up District Mining Foundation Trust in mining areas of the country as underground water level in mining areas have gone down and people residing in mining areas has to face drinking water crisis but now through mining fund, people of mining areas will get purified drinking water.
Mining states get 30 per cent royalty for mining for development of mining districts and Jharkhand got Rs 1050 crore as mining for District Mining Foundation Trust initiated by the prime minister.
State government has decided to provide the mining fund to villagers residing in mining districts of Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ramgarh and West Singhbhum, while government has also increased budget for drinking water in the state as government is dedicated to provide drinking water to 68 lakh households of 32 thousand villages of the state up to 2020-21, Das said.
The chief minister urged the people of the state that rich people should build 10 toilets for poor families to support government and poor people of the state and government is working to make Jharkhand open defecation free by 2019.
While addressing the public meeting drinking water and sanitation minister Chandra Prakash Chaudhary said that Ramgarh is the newest district of the state and district boasts of being first ODF district and 100 per cent electrified district.
Chaudhary said that chief minister has directed to give drinking water to each households of the state by 2020 but his department would meet the target in 2019.
