R K Paswan was caught red-handed by the vigilance team, which laid a trap following complaint by a welding-shop owner Rajesh Danga that the official had demanded Rs 5000 from him.
Danga, who owns a shop in Jyarapa village, accused Paswan of demanding money to let him off in a case regarding overdrawing of electricity.
