Chairing the first meeting of the Jharkhand Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Council after its notification on March 31, 2015, Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said the government and industry were trustees who must work for the overall development.
Stating that companies were equal partners in development, he said Jharkhand has immense potential to become the most prosperous state.
Das appreciated the CSR work undertaken by companies in Jharkhand and urged them to spend two per cent of their net profit on CSR activities in a focussed manner, an official release quoting him said here.
Suggesting the companies to take up 32 Industrial Training Institutes, he identified West Singhbhum district and six districts of the Santhal Pargana region for work in a planned and focussed manner.
The approximate proposed CSR spend of companies in Jharkhand for 2015-16 is about Rs 400 crore, the release said. The other suggested list of activities underlined by the Council are health, nutrition, education, planning & development; art, culture & sports.
