While Jharkhand is known for its mineral resources worldwide, the world will now see its art, culture, life style and food as the fortnight lone Suraj Kund Festival kicks off on February 1, state Tourism Minister Amar Kumar Bauri said today.
Bauri said it was a historic opportunity as 'state Jharkhand' is the theme in the February 1-15 'Suraj Kund festival' in Haryana and not only people of the country but also people from 20 other countries would see Jharkhand's rich tapestry of art, culture, food and other things.
The people would also know attractive tourist destinations, he said and added the department was making efforts to generate jobs in the tourism sector.
The department Secretary Rahul Sharma said that State Jharkhand is the theme of Surajkund fair.
The entrance has been decorated as Maluti Temple, which would remain permanently and temporary gates would be based on themes like Chou dance, Jharkhand's Itkhori tourist site, Dokra art and Rajarappa temple, he said.
An 18-foot statue of Birsa Munda has been erected, besides the information centre set up at Suraj Kund is based on Audrey House, which houses the Information and Public Relations Department of Jharkhand government, he said.
