Jharkhand to sanction LPG connections to BPL families: Das

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said the state government has decided to give LPG connections to BPL families in the next three years.
Launching the 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana', Das said it was the result of the vision of the Centre and the state government, adding that coordinated efforts between the two had brought the Yojana on the ground.
Announcing that the state would observe 2017 as 'Garib Kalyan Varsh' (Year for the poor), the Chief Minister said the state was committed to such programmes as the poor too have the right to live in dignity.
He said the state and the Centre were working with "vision and mission" and works were being taken up for welfare of the poor under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Under the Ujjwala Yojana, the poor families would get
free gas connections, stove and initial re-fill. This will free the women from smoke, the Chief Minister said.

He said even now a large number of women were using firewood to cook and the government was working to change the situation and in the next three years, 27 lakh families would get this benefit.
Das said on a day, women were celebrating 'karvachouth' (a ritual done by married women), Ujjwala Yojana has been introduced in their honour.
Stating that only politics had been around the poor and tribals, Das said some political parties used them as their vote-box, but did nothing for their development.
He said his government was committed to the poor, and the Centre and the state government's basic mantra was "together with all" and "development for all".
Sanctioning a bridge across the Ganga in Sahibganj, the Centre had given pace to development in the state's backward areas.
He said employment would be further generated after functioning of Sindri Fertiliser factory.
