The festival, which began yesterday and will continue till August 18, also marks the appearnce day of Sri Balaram.
Young devotees along with students of the Gurukula at Mayapur have been organising this festival for the last 30 years.
As a part of the festivities every evening the youth brigade carry the idols of Radha Krishna on a palanquin to a platform, over a lake, where the Lord is seated on a beautifully decorated swing.
On the final day, the divine appearance day of Lord Balrama, elder brother of Lord Krishna will be observed.
On this day devotees perform Maha Abhishek, Maha Arti and present kirtan as it is believed till one pleases Lord Balarama one cannot receive the mercy of Radha Krishna.
