The initiative to develop modern training centre is part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity being undertaken by the firm.
The SAI will look after the selection and training part of the athletes while infrastructure upgradation and maintenance will be taken care by Jindal Group.
"The SAI is actively considering the proposal by the Jindal Group to develop SAI's Hisar Centre under first-of-its-kind Public-Private Partnership as part of their CSR initiative. It will be an important step towards providing world class sporting infrastructure to the athletes," said SAI DG Jiji Thomson.
Thomson informed the proposal is in the draft stage and will be sent to the Sports Ministry for its approval once the modalities are being finalised.
"The proposal is with us and we are actively working on it. It will take us one-two months to come up with a final draft of the proposal. This involves several rounds of consultations between the interested parties. After that, it will be sent to the Sports Ministry and after their approval, the Centre will start functioning.
