A Jindal Saw statement today said the partnership would increase the efficiency of the NTPC-Farakka waterways project which delivers imported coal to Farakka by barges.
The project is set to deliver three million tonnes of coal to Farakka via the Hooghly River.

Expecting significant movement of coal in the next decade, the company hoped cargo movement through inland waterways via this (NW-I) route was expected to grow to 24 million tonnes over the next few years.
