Director General of Health Services Jagdish Prasad announced this at the inauguration of the four-day International Summit on Emergency Medicine and Trauma Care organised by JIPMER.
He said difficult and very critical cases of trauma would be referred to JIPMER.
He said JIPMER had also been sanctioned permission to start an MD course this year in Emergency Medicine and to begin with six candidates would be admitted to the course.
Prasad also said the Centre had approved of an outlay of Rs 900 crores to enable 90 government medical college across the country to set up burns wards.
