Various committees to support and facilitate good research projects had been started for this purpose, JIPMER Director S C Parija said in a press release today.
Funds for research works had also been raised considerably, he added.
Also, a JIPMER Innovation Facilitation Unit had been opened to augment research areas.
Besides inking memoranda of understanding with several national and international research institutes for training and collaboration, the institute had also initiated a series of programmes to promote capacity building for students, research scholars and the faculty, Parija said.

Parija said that a research resource centre would also be set up soon to establish an 'infrastructure to support research-related activities.'
The resource centre would have divisions including clinical research, molecular biology and clinical epidemiology.
The institute would also adopt centrally-designed VAJRA (Visiting Advanced JointResearch)and GIAN (Global Institute for Academic Network) schemes.
Through these schemes foreign faculty from institutes of higher education would be invited and engaged in various research activities, the release said.
