JIPMER Director S C Parija said the multi-storied block has been set up at a cost of Rs 42.72 crore as part of the third phase of development of infrastructure at the institute.
The block, which would be inaugurated soon, houses different departments and also a pharmacy to ensure that patients turning up for healthcare services do not run from pillar-to-post to get treatment, he said in a release.
The Medical Records Department, now functioning in the main block, would be shifted to the new 'screening OPD' block and the MRD is a totally computerised wing.
The Director said the purpose of having the block was to ensure quick registration and also for collection of lab reports.
