Jitendra Singh demands PM apology for police action against
Press Trust of India New Delhi Former Minister of State for Defence Jitendra Singh today demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's apology for the police action against ex-servicemen agitating here to press their demand for implementation of 'One Rank, One Pension (OROP)'.
In a statement, the Congress leader condemned the action which he said has insulted the ex-servicemen and hurt the morale of the armed forces.
He wanted the government to take steps to implement 'One Rank, One Pension' without delay.
He said that despite coming to power 15 months ago, the government has failed to do justice with the ex-servicemen who have given their best for the country.
Earlier in the day, police tried to evict the ex-servicemen from Jantar Mantar in the heart of the capital on the ground of security ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. Later, Police Commissioner B S Bassi said they have been allowed to continue with their protest.
