JK CM visits children's home in Jammu on Diwali

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti visited a children's and destitute home here today and stressed on the need for social integration and rehabilitation of orphans, an official said.
Mufti's visit to the centre at R S Pura coincided with 'Diwali', the festival of lights.
She extended greetings to the children and wished them happy and prosperous times ahead, he said.
Interacting with the inmates, the chief minister said though the Government was working for the welfare of orphans and the destitute, but it was the obligation of all citizens to play a role towards proper rehabilitation and social integration of these victims of fate.
She appealed to all sections to devote a part of their mental, material or intellectual resources in bringing a large section of such socially fragmented people into the mainstream of the society.
During the visit, the chief minister sat with the inmates of the children's home and interacted with them, an official spokesman said. The children shared their interests like poetry, singing and painting with the chief minister.
The spokesman said that a large number of people from different walks of life also met Mufti.
