"The (Narendra) Modi -(Nawaz) Sharif meet in Russia is a welcome move. Congress party will welcome and support any move that will lead to complete peace on the borders and between the two countries," JKPCC president Ghilam Ahmad Mir said.
Mir said that though there were expectations that talks would lead to a major breakthrough and would be result oriented, nothing concrete happened during the meet.
Meanwhile, state unit of CPI(M) termed the meeting as a welcome step saying such meetings need to be sustained and structured in the larger interests of peace in the sub-continent.
"Dialogue held in a casual approach has not yielded any results for the two countries in the past and now is the opportunity that both the countries need to move forward to address the looming uncertainty over the entire region," Tarigami said.
He urged India and Pakistan leadership to hold dialogue on all the bilateral issues including Kashmir.
"India and Pakistan must realise that it is the people of Kashmir who have always been the worst sufferers of the skirmishes and hostilities between the two neighbouring countries," he said.
