Holi was today celebrated in Jammu with traditional gaiety.
Exuberant BJP workers celebrated the festival of colour at the party headquarters in Kachi Chawani area of the city in presence Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and Minister of State (MoS) Priya Sethi.
"Party workers were jubilant with BJP having historical reason to celebrate this Holi in a colourful and exuberant way on account of having made history by coming to power in the state for the first time," Singh told reporters.
Singh, Sethi and a host of other party leaders and activists danced to the beats of drum amid sprinkling colours of the festival, exchanging greetings and distributing sweets at the party office.
Singh, while extending Holi greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, said the festival has been the harbinger of unprecedented good tidings not only for the party and its activists but for the entire population of the state belonging to different faiths and religions.
"Our government shall be people friendly and work for the betterment of the all segments of the population of all the regions of the state," he said.
In various places across Jammu, Holi was celebrated with traditional gaiety despite heavy rains lashing the region during the day.
