Director General of Police Dilbag Singh Saturday reviewed the security scenario in north Kashmir and directed his officers to make proper arrangements for peaceful conduct of the upcoming Panchayat polls in the state.
The DGP, along with IGP Kashmir S P Pani and DIG north Kashmir Atul Goyal, visited Lolab and Tangdhar in the frontier district of Kupwara where he interacted with public and chaired a joint security review meeting in Baramulla, a police spokesman said.
He said during the review meeting at Baramulla, the DGP commended all the forces for peaceful urban local bodies elections and directed the officers to ensure that appropriate security arrangements are put in place for peaceful conduct of upcoming panchayat polls.
The DGP stressed the need for continuous coordination among security agencies and appreciated the strategy followed by the forces to deal with militancy in the state, the spokesman said.
He said while interacting with jawans and officers at Lolab, the DGP appreciated efforts of police, central armed police forces and army in dealing with law and order situation effectively.
Singh said the attempts of anti-social elements were foiled because of the professionalism displayed by the forces.
During his meetings with army officers including Commander 8 Sector Brigadier Mohit Trivedi and Commander 104 Mountain Brigadier P K Mishra, the DGP discussed the security scenario in Lolab bowl and also the measures put in place at anti-infiltration grid to foil the infiltration bids on the Line of Control in the district, the spokesman said.
