He said over Rs 6.05 lakh have been sanctioned in favour of 121 wards of police personnel which include 14 wards of gazetted officers, 23 of non-gazetted offices and 84 wards belonging to other serving personnel.
The scholarships have been sanctioned in three categories - children who have secured highest percentage of marks in Matric, 10+2, Graduation and PG-level examinations.
On the occasion, Prasad said that the objective of granting scholarships is to boost the talent among the children so that they could compete in different fields to build their bright career.
The DGP said scholarships are being sanctioned in favour of meritorious students out of Central Police Welfare Fund.
