JK govt prepares Rs 401cr flood management plan for Jhelum

The Jammu and Kashmir government government has prepared a comprehensive plan for flood management works on river Jhelum at an estimated cost of Rs 401 crore.
"The project for priority works- comprehensive plan for flood management works on river Jhelum-Phase I has been prepared at an estimated cost of Rs 401 crore", Minister for Roads and Buildings, Altaf Bukhari said in a written reply to the Legislative Assembly to the question of NC member Mohmmad Akhtar Lone here today.
"Rs 101.25 crore are included in the project for construction of Flood Spill Channel from Tulerzoo to Naid Khai", he said.
The project stand submitted to Central Water Commission (CWC), GoI for approval and funding, Minister said adding that the scheme is likely to be approved funded during the current financial year and the execution of the works will be taken upon receipt of approval and funds from Government of India.
The compensation for land and houses to the inhabitants of the Wanzapora, Gasheri Mohalla and Karnai Mohallas will be paid before starting the works there as it is built in the project report, he said.
The survey for demarcation of land and houses is in progress, he said.
