"A joint team of revenue and police officials held a drive for removal of encroachment after construction of illegal structures was noticed. Five structures, including three residential sheds, were demolished and prime land measuring 2.3 kanals was retrieved," Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said.
Soon after receiving the information about the encroachment last evening, Khilafwarzi Inspector and Patwari visited spot and Khilafwarzi Inspector reported that he had stopped the construction, he said.
But later when the deputy commissioner visited the spot, he found the construction to be going on in full swing, he said.
During the demolition, the encroachers alleged that the khilafwarzi inspector had allowed the construction after receiving a bribe of Rs 40,000.
