JK minister lays foundation stone of indoor ice-hockey stadium

Jammu and Kashmir minister of Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather, today laid the foundation stone of an indoor ice-hockey stadium at Kargil, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 45 crore.
"Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather laid the foundation stone of Rs 45 crore world-class indoor ice-hockey stadium at Kargil.
Various games like ice hockey, snow skiing and other sports will be played in the stadium round the year," an official spokesman said here.
The minister also reviewed the district's financial achievements registered during the last fiscal, the spokesman said.
The review meeting was attended by Kachoo Ahmad Ali, Chief Executive Councillor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil among others, he said.
The minister enjoined upon the district's officers and engineers to work with added zeal and commitment to remove hardships of the people of this hilly district, the spokesman said.

"People of the district have pinned high hopes on the present dispensation and onus lies on the officers concerned and engineers at the helm of affairs to live up to their expectations.
Though the overall plan performance in the district during the last fiscal has remained almost satisfactory, but there are still some gaps which needed to be plugged for removing development deficit in the district," the spokesman quoted the minister as saying.
Rather added that the government is well abreast with problems and hardships of the people of Ladakh region in view of which, special funds have been earmarked by both Centre and state governments, the spokesman added.
