JK planning to hike assistance to militancy-affected families

Jammu and Kashmir government is planning to enhance financial assistance to militancy-affected families of the state from the existing Rs 750 per month to Rs 1,000 per month.
Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo, announced this today while participating in an awareness camp in Kathua district.
She further said the state government was also considering to increase the age limit for scholarship to children belonging to such families from 18 to 25 years.
Itoo said the government has formulated a mission authority to cater to the interests of women. Under the initiative, centres will be established to provide information to them about welfare schemes.

Itoo also expressed concern over comparatively lesser participation of women in schemes like MGNREGA in the state.
