JK police personnel to undergo training

Over 10,000 personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police will undergo a skill-upgradation training by the department and Delhi University to meet challenges of the fast changing world and for better police-public interface.
"Jammu and Kashmir Police in collaboration with Delhi University will be imparting soft skill development training to about ten thousand policemen across all districts in the Valley," a police spokesman said here.
He said the five-day programme will start from tomorrow wherein 10,500 policemen will be imparted the training by 13 teams of experts from the University of Delhi.
The format of the training was discussed today in a meeting between the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Abdul Gani Mir and Pamela Singla, Project Coordinator of the training programme, the spokesman said.
Mir said in the last two decades, Jammu and Kashmir police has evolved as a force at a fast pace.
"While the force strength has improved multi-fold, our endeavour has always been to update this force with latest training and skill enhancement to meet the challenges of today's fast changing world.

"The Life Skills Enhancement training at all police district headquarters of the Valley in collaboration with University of Delhi is a part of our continued effort to help our men cope with the fast changing world of today and to equip them to meet the highly evolving expectations of the general public," Mir said.
The IGP said the development of soft skill for the police personnel for better police-public interface was off long envisaged to be an area where there was immense scope of improvement especially at the cutting edge level of police stations where police-public relations have direct bearing on the quality of the delivery of services.
The significance of the developments of soft skills among the police personnel was felt during public interactions while visiting different districts across the Valley, the IGP said.
