 "JK: Sikhs carry out march to condemn 'sacrilege' of holy book")
A large number of Sikhs held the protest march which started from Gurudwara Nanak Nagar in the morning and culminated at Satwari Chowk after going through several parts of the city.
"This was a peaceful protest in which we did not raise slogans or banners against anybody, we just recited Gurbani and urged the government that it was its duty to safeguard the religious sentiments of Sikhs across the country", said Preetam Singh, one of the protesters.

The protesting group expressed anguish and carried placards against "the increase in the incidents of the alleged sacrilege" of their holy scripture in Punjab, which witnessed two incidents of alleged desecration of copies of Sri Guru Granth Sahib within a week by some unidentified miscreants.
They also protested against the killing of two Sikhs in police firing in the Kotkapura town of Faridkot district of Punjab on October 14.
The protesters claimed that the act was a "deep-rooted conspiracy" aimed at hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh community across the globe even as they demanded immediate identification and punishment for the people who have committed these acts.
"We want that the law enforcement agencies must identify and punish the culprits who are responsible for the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib in various parts across Punjab", said Manjeet Singh, another protester.
Meanwhile, elaborate security arrangements were kept at place to maintain law and order during the protest by Sikh organisations.
"The protest remained peaceful and there was no law and order problem during the protest", SSP, Jammu, Uttam Chand said.
