Oscar-winning actor JK Simmons has signed on to star in "The Bachelors", a dramedy from writer-director Kurt Voelker ('Sweet November').
The 60-year-old "Whiplash" star will play a recently widowed dad who moves to a new city with his 17-year-old son, said The Hollywood Reporter.
The father and the son start up new romances and begin to bond when those relationships are tested. Shooting on "The Bachelors" is planned for spring 2016 in Los Angeles.
The project re teams Simmons with Voelker, as the actor was part of the voice cast on the director's upcoming animated feature "Rock Dog".
Matthew Baer ('Unbroken') and George Parra ('David O Russell's 'Silver Linings Playbook' and 'Joy') are producing "The Bachelors", with Jennifer Kelly as executive producer.
