A court here today granted NC president Farooq Abdullah exemption from personal appearance in connection with a case regarding the multi-crore scam in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.

Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, granted the former chief minister exemption from personal appearance in the case after Abdullah gave a personal bond of Rs 50,000, the party's provincial president, Kashmir, Nasir Aslam Wani said.

Wani gave surety of an equal amount for the National Conference (NC) president.

The next hearing of the case is on August 29.

On July 16, the CBI had filed a charge sheet against four people, including Abdullah, in connection with alleged irregularities and misappropriation of funds in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).

Abdullah was head of the JKCA when the alleged embezzlement of association funds took place.

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court had in 2015 ordered a CBI probe into the alleged scandal following a petition filed by two cricketers from the state.
